Verona: the magic city of love
The magic city of love, setting of Shakespeare’s tragedy Romeo&Juliet, offers several reasons to explore it. Among the most famous monuments, Juliet’s house and the marvellous Roman amphitheater, which in the summer season hosts one of the most famous opera festivals.
Other monuments that worth a visit are the Roman Theater, setting of several concerts and summer shows, Ponte Pietra, Castel San Pietro, the Church of San Zeno, Castelvecchio and the Arche Scaligere.
Verona is situated in a strategic position: in the West, there is Garda Lake, easily reachable by car, bus, or train, in about 30 minutes. For kids, in this area (Peschiera del Garda) there is Italy’s biggest amusement park, Gardaland, open all year long.
In the North, there are several valleys, among which Valpolicella, the exclusive producer of Amarone, Valpolicella Ripasso and Valpolicella Superiore DOCG. In the East, there is the production area of Soave DOCG. A lot of wineries – for example Masi and Allegrini, some of the most famous – organize guided tours and tastings in their beautiful estates.
Verona is also situated one hour away by train from Venice, one of the most unique and beautiful cities.
