Juliet’s Grave in front of our hotel

Juliet’s grave is located right in front of the Hotel De’ Capuleti, in a former convent of the Capuchin friars, dating back to the 13th century.

In the underground crypt, which is accessed from the east side of the cloister via a stone staircase, is the uncovered red marble sarcophagus which, according to tradition, housed the mortal remains of the young Capulet.

The current appearance of the place, which dates back to the 1930s, is the work of Antonio Avena, the then director of the civic museums, who wanted to rearrange the area to offer the public another space linked to the Shakespearean legend.

Within the same complex, you can find the Frescoes Museum“G.B. Cavalcaselle”, inaugurated in 1973. Two rooms of the museum, the Sala delle Muse from Casa Guarienti and the Sala Giacomo Galtarossa, are evocative venues that the city makes available to newlyweds for the celebration of their wedding.
